Located in Orange County, Orlando is the number one tourist destination in the world. Over 37 million visitors a year enjoy Orlando's entertainment, sports, shopping, dining, and nature activities, all in wonderfully warm climate with lush, colorful Florida scenery. Orlando International Airport has been rated among the top five airports, in customer convenience, worldwide. The number of airlines servicing the airport continues to grow.

Orlando dates back to 1838 during the height of the Seminole Wars. The U.S. Army built Fort Gatlin south of today's Orlando City limits to protect settlers from attacks by Indians. A small community grew up around the Fort and was known as Jernigan, named after a family, that had established one of the settlements in the area. No one knew much about the area until Walt Disney decided to build his second theme park there. Walt Disney World opened in 1971.
